Veco seeks ERC nod on 2008 expenditures

CEBU - The Visayan Electric Company Inc. is asking the Energy Regulatory Commission to approve its capital expenditures for 2008 for it to implement its major projects for this year.

In an official statement, VECO said their major projects include the construction of new substations and acquisition of additional special transmission and distribution vehicles in line with its pursuit to deliver “adequate, efficient and reliable service” to its customers.

To meet the rising load demand in Mandaue City, the new substation would reportedly be built at the North Reclamation Area.

VECO said its substations in Mabolo and Mandaue are already loaded due to the expansion of existing establishments and construction of large commercial and industrial zones.

Meanwhile, VECO said it was compelled to acquire an additional digger truck that will help the T and D team in transferring poles and lines amidst Cebu City’s major road projects such as road widening and flyover constructions.

VECO said the digger truck will help shorten the time for pole installation activities as well as minimize the inconvenience of the scheduled power interruptions. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
