Police arrest Internet café robbery suspect

-
Police arrested a man tagged as the lookout of two unidentified armed men who robbed the KayDotNet Internet Café along Salinas Drive Friday afternoon.

One of the witnesses identified Alejandro Lagon Jr., 22, of Peace Valley, barangay Lahug as the man he saw waiting on a red motorcycle that the two armed robbers rode in their escape.

Lagon was arrested by Sr. Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes, deputy chief of the Theft and Robbery Section, and his men during a follow-up operation hours after the incident.

The robbers, armed with undetermined caliber of firearms, barged into the Internet café that is also selling cellular phones. Kay Noonner, daughter of the establishment's owner, told police that the incident happened in just few seconds.

The robbers broke the glass showcase and took several cellular phones. They also took the P2,000 in the cash registry before leaving on a red XRM motorcycle.

Responding policemen failed to arrest the two robbers. But Lagon was arrested while buying gasoline at a gasoline station located along General Maxilom Avenue more than two hours later. A cook at a nearby fastfood chain positively identified Lagon as the man who was driving the getaway vehicle speeding towards Gorordo Avenue.

When interviewed by reporters, Lagon denied the allegations, claiming that he was just buying gasoline when the police suddenly arrested him. He said he was surprised when he was identified as cohort of the two robbers.
