The provincial government is hiring more than 60 medical personnel for its 18 district hospitals next year despite the pending approval of the proposed P2.1-billion budget for 2006 by the Provincial Board.
Capitol's Bids and Awards Committee for Goods and Services, which is headed by Roy Salubre, recently invited all manpower agencies supplying medical personnel to bid for the contract, which has a budget of P14,315,000.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia had received positive feedbacks on medical personnel who were earlier outsourced by Capitol for its district hospitals in the province because they performed well.
Needed under the contract are 25 physicians, 22 nurses, two medical technologists, three nutritionists, eight nurse attendants, one pharmacist, two dentists, one chemist and one social worker.
Garcia had assured that the 18 district hospitals would undergo a major improvement next year, but she failed to mention as to when the plan to construct the provincial hospital would push through. - Ferliza C. Contratista
