More health programs in underserved areas sought

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos wants two key health programs expanded in underserved areas to enhance access to health services and lower medical costs, Malacañang said.
Marcos called for the expansion of the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program or YAKAP clinics and Guaranteed Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment or GAMOT providers during a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council health care sector group last Wednesday.
According to Radio Television Malacañang, there are 22.42 million registered beneficiaries of YAKAP while 1.28 million Filipinos have received free medicines under the GAMOT program.
