Photolicious 2012

CEBU, Philippines - As students and professionals in the culinary fields bested each other during the two-day run of Cebu Goes Culinary 2012 last August 3 and 4, slews of Cebu's rookie and professional photographers also heeded the challenge raised by Photolicious 2012, the 3rd photography competition organized by the Hotel, Resort & Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc (HRRACI).

Primed as an "on the spot" photography competition, Photolicious 2012 raked in a total of 41 participants who took photojournalist-inspired images during the course of Cebu Goes Culinary 2012 in the Cebu International Convention Center, backdropped by this year's theme, "Where Flavors Meet Fun".

"This year, [HRRACI] raised the bar with Photolicious, taking on an active on-the-spot approach to the competition," shares Corinne Joseph, Overall-Chairman, Cebu Goes Culinary 2012 during the Photolicious 2012 Awarding Ceremonies held last August 24, 2012 at the Laguna Garden Café in The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.

"Given the challenges faced by photographers when talking about capturing images of culinary creations, we felt that the real-time aspect of the event was a worthy challenge which any photographer would welcome," Joseph further shares.

Ben Shan, Allan Gordon Joseph and Robo Formacion respectively bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards of Photolicious 2012, with the photos of Francisco Yosales, Joseph Umbao, Zenald Baclayon, Van Alain Sombito, Carlito Felicen, Paul Gotiong and Chubby Atillo making it to the competition's finalists' shortlist.

Photolicious 2012 judges Raul Arambulo, Erwin Lim and Dwight Lu based their assessments on Photolicious 2012's criteria for judging, which touched up on a photo's relevance to the theme, composition factor, originality and the overall quality of the image/photo.

Founded as a non-profit, non-government organization intent in uplifting Cebu's Culinary and Hospitality industries, the Photolicious series of competitions is a manifestation of HRRACI's commitment in promoting and upgrading Cebu's Hospitality (Rooms, Food and Beverage) Industries.

With the success of Cebu Goes Culinary 2012 and the successful run of Photolicious 2012, the two events stand as proof of HRRACI's relevant contributions to the Cebuano community.
