Choi City Seafood Restaurant Visits SOS Children's Village

CEBU, Philippines - In the spirit of good tidings and gift giving, the Choi City Seafood Restaurant family, composed of management and staff, visited the SOS Children’s Village in Talamban to bring joy to the young orphans, as part of Choi City’s first anniversary thanksgiving celebration last November 19.

This was a chance for Choi City to give back for all the blessings they received for the past year. For a day, Choi City management and staff and the SOS children became one big, happy family, as they sang, danced, played, and ate together.

The children were very hospitable as they welcomed their visitors to their village. The program started with a few games, participated by both the young and the young at heart. If it was not for the difference in size, one would think everyone who were playing were children. Then, the Choi City staff presented their famous birthday song and dance number to the November celebrators. It certainly brought smiles to the faces of the birthday boys and girls. After the exhausting activities, it was finally time for breakfast. The children lined up as the Choi City staff served up a simple meal. It was clear that, despite being out of the restaurant, they were still serving from their hearts.

The others, who were not serving, assisted in bringing the children’s plates to their dining areas. For the younger children, their Choi City Ate’s and Kuya’s were more than happy to spoon-feed them. The little ones’ adorable faces were enough to fill the hearts of those who were feeding them. After breakfast, the volunteers were pleasantly surprised as the children showed their dance presentations. There’s no doubt that these kids were extremely talented. It was nearing the end of the visit and the time was spent chatting, playing, and getting to know each other. There was so much excess food that all the houses in the village were asked to bring plastic containers to be filled with the leftovers. The sportier kids played soccer and basketball with their newfound friends, while the girls sat down and talked.

Coming into the village, the Choi City family members had a simple goal, it’s to make the children happy. Though at the end of the day, it was the children who made the Choi City family members happy. It was the children who touched their lives. It was the Choi City staff who were left teary eyed.
