The youngest painter

CEBU, Philippines - Do you have a talent in painting? Well, some of us started painting when we were little though not professionally. The moment we held crayons, we had our first strokes of lines and circles until we developed drawing shapes, then objects like the sun, tree, stars, birds and a house.

For four-year-old Aelita Andre, she has this rare talent in her art pieces are which compared to the great Pablo Picasso. This Australian kid is an abstract painter whose solo exhibit dubbed Prodigy of Color is ongoing at the Agora Gallery in New York until June 25, 2011.

According to Wikipedia, abstract art uses form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Andre is an abstract painter and is now hailed as the youngest professional painter in the world. Her painting costs up to $24,000 each. She has produced 250 paintings already.

She started painting when she was 11 months old, using acrylics on canvas. Most of her paintings are nature and outer space-inspired.

According to the New York Post website, Mom Nikka Kalashnikova has this to say: “If a child is very talented, you have to give them the opportunity.” So, moms, if you’ve noticed that your child has a talent in drawing/painting, encourage him or her. Also, kids, if you’re inspired with Aelita’s story, practice more.
