Service above self is what the Rotaract Club of Cebu South is all about

-

CEBU, Philippines - It is considered as the oldest youth organization under the Rotary family in District 3860, which covers most of the Visayas and some parts of Mindanao including Davao City.

Last month, the club inducted its 23rd set of officers as well as new members. They will be serving for Rotary Year 2010-2011, which started last July 1. The induction was held at Golden Peak Hotel and Suites.

This year, the whole Rotary family all over the world will anchor its efforts on the theme, Building Communities – Bridging Continents, which according to Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith, would explain what Rotary is to non-Rotarians while validating the achievements of the organization and its members.

President Renult Jossell M. Pogoy emphasized this point in his acceptance speech, saying that the service given by the club and all other clubs under the Rotary family to beneficiary communities will remain in the halls of history of that community, a legacy that the club will leave to the community.

“It marks all the good deeds (when) we shared our graces to everybody (through the) services (that we offered),” he said.

To show its growing influence in the district, that same night, the club forged a Sisterhood Agreement with the renowned Rotaract Club of Tolong (Bayawan City, Negros Oriental) represented by President Rothel Magbanua.

The newly inducted officers were Renult Jossel M. Pogoy, president; Rudilin A. Blanco, vice president; Divine Suan, secretary; Lourelley Calledo, treasurer; Dianne Hope Villamero, auditor.

Past District Rotaract Representative Rail Emmanuel Letigio, director for international service; Vernie Balmes, community service; Roland Ray Dingal, club service; Cherry Ann Tuba, vocational and professional service; Froilan Yap Jr., financial service; and Geopeter Mayhew, ex oficio.

The new officers were sworn in by Rotary Club of Cebu South president Atty. Manuel Gordon.
