An adventure to the Northern part of Cebu

- Kaella Angan -

CEBU, Philippines - My family along with my dad’s TV crew went to Medellin one weekend for a project there called “Scubasurero”—wherein community helpers such as policemen, businessmen, and boatmen put together their resources and volunteered their time to collect trash found in the seas.

The project was held around the town of Kawit and we were able to fill up sacks and sacks with trash. Afterwards we went to a little village up in the mountains and there was a steep way going up the mountain and when we got there, a loooooooooooonnnng zipline met us!   Each had a turn but too bad I could not get on since they found me too light to board it.   My older sister, who was a bit heavier than I am, could not get to the other side and they had to reel her back in!

There was another way to get to the other side though, we either had to walk or ride a multicab….I chose to walk since it’s more friendly to the environment. It was a short fun walk as we would be passing little houses and lots of kids on the way there.   From there we found a cave, which was not too big but people say there were snakes on occasions. But we did not see any that day, we did see though, a spider that looked fake, we also saw many bats and the breeze inside the cave was really cool.Later, we followed our guide, who rode on a motorcycle, to the place where we were checked in. It was called the “Korean Village” since lots of older Korean folks stay there. There was also a golf course and these people would play golf from early morning to sunset.

While waiting for dinner, we swam in the wide pool. Dinnertime was in a resort named “The Hideaway.” After another long day,   we finally got some sleep.   Day 3, the final day,   we woke up and got ready for breakfast. While waiting for the others to finish up, I walked along the shore and got a very interesting shell. We had a long wait for our ride to yet another resort so I explored while waiting. After a time, the Mayor of Medellin came in a speedboat and we were off. We saw the coastlines of Bantayan, Sta. Fe, Medellin, and Hagnaya, all sprawling with wonderful white sand beaches. It amazes me how beautiful our country really is!   We have a BIG GOD to thank so is it a wonder? After a heavy lunch at some resort, we rode the same speedboat back to our resort. Before this, we had to burn what we ate. Since the tide was low, we had to help push our boats to the deeper part of the sea…WHEW! What a workout! Back at our resort, we freshened up a bit and packed up, ready for another four-hour drive back to our home. Another adventure for the books! Thanks for the learning, Dad!
