Actor Richard Gomez tests mettle in game show hosting via "Family Feud" : Gomez up is against game show veteran Kris Aquino in timeslot

- Ricky L. Calderon -

We had a wonder ful time watching  the press people who played in “Family Feud,” the world’s longest-running game show, which was launched last Tuesday at the Studio 3 of GMA 7 network. We cheered them on and we were delighted at how Richard Gomez did his hosting job “Family Feud,” one of the three new game shows that GMA 7 is coming up with.

Sometime last year or early this year, Richard had been vocal about his desire to try his hand in hosting a game show. Even if GMA 7 kept him busy with other shows (the latest of which is the teleserye, “Codename: Asero”), the desire to host a game show did not diminish a bit. So when Richard learned there’s an audition for “Family Feud,” he really prepared for it.

Judging from the way Richard handled the program, we could say he did quite well. The actor, nevertheless, was honest enough to admit that he still has to improve on some parts. “Family Feud” will premiere on Monday, October 13, before “24 Oras.” The GMA network made a good choice in giving Goma the hosting duties

“I know I will certainly be compared with the likes of Edu Manzano, Kris Aquino, and Paolo Bediones, but since I am new in this genre, I am still getting the feel of it. I am, however, enjoying myself very much,” Goma said in an interview after the press people finished playing their fun-filled game. When he learned about the audition, he didn’t waste time and readily gave it a try.

“I really wanted to try my hand in doing a game show and I am very thankful with the trust given me by GMA to host this program.” Now that he got the hosting job, Goma hopes “Family Feud” would be on air for a long time.

A dream concert, which is touted to be one of the most impressive and ground-breaking productions in the local concert scene, is finally happening. The country’s top divas—Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez—will be together on the same stage for “Divas 4 Divas” concert to be held at the Araneta Coliseum on December 6.

“Divas 4 Divas” is a 20th anniversary presentation of Music Museum, which has played a significant part in the careers of all four divas and other performers, as what Kuh and present owner Precy Florentino had envisioned it to be—a venue for local artists. “Divas 4 Divas” is bound to make history by bringing together the finest female talents in one concert venue.

This is a grand musical event that should not be missed. According to Kuh, who is line-producing the concert for her Headline Concepts Production, this project has long been in the drawing board but took so long to mount because of the conflicting schedules of the singers involved.

Kuh has done shows with Pops, Zsa Zsa and Regine in her past projects so she said it’s going to be a different experience seeing all four of them at the Araneta Coliseum. The budget is staggering, but Precy Florentino said she doesn’t want to make it a problem because she believes “Divas 4 Divas” is a one-of-a-kind musical treat.

Can John Prats make “Tiny Tony” a top-rater? That question will be answered when John’s first crack at being the lead actor of a fantasy series takes form as the adventures of Tiny Tony in Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo begins on ABS-CBN this Saturday.

“I am very happy with the opportunity given to me to headline this series,” said John, who nearly made the big switch (from being a Kapamilya to being a Kapuso). The idea of doing finally his first big role in a fantasy series was enough motivation for John to stay put in ABS-CBN.

From the direction of Dondon Santos, Tiny Tony is the fourth superhero character being presented by Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo. For more information, log on to www.abs-cbn@http://komikspresents.multiply.com.

Also premiering this Saturday on ABS-CBN is the all-female gag show titled “Banana Split” featuring Angelica Panganiban, Roxanne Guinoo, Cristine Reyes, Valerie Concepcion, RR Enriquez, Dianne Medina and Princess Ryan.

This will be ABS-CBN’s answer to “Nuts Entertainment” of GMA 7. So how will the girls fare against Joey de Leon, Anjo Yllana at Janno Gibbs, plus Alfred Vargas, Iwa Moto and Ehra Madrigal, among other others?

If sexy girls could really attract and titillate the viewers, then Banana Split should have no problem matching up with the energy and laughter dished out by Nuts Entertainment.
