Sarah Geronimo is on pins and needles as she waits for the screening of her film with John Lloyd Cruz, A Very Special Love. She’s reportedly worried about how the fans of John and Bea Alonzo will react to the movie. Will the John-Bea diehards boycott the film?
I don’t think Sarah has anything to worry about. The film will be judged on how well she teams up with John. Judging by the trailer, I think A Very Special Love will prove Sarah’s worth as an actress. And that’s what matters.
The question, however, remains: Who will Sarah pair up with next?

After a disappointing run, Songbird will soon be signing off. It’s said to be taping its last three episodes. I don’t think it even completed a season. The show never got good ratings, and one reason could be that Regine Velasquez is overexposed. She’s seen Monday to Friday in Kim Samsoon and on SOP on Sunday.
GMA-7 switched Songbird to another timeslot to improve its ratings, but that didn’t work. So it decided to can the show.

How true is the buzz that Amalia Fuentes is replacing Consoliza Laguardia as chairperson of the Movie and Television Rating and Classification Board? According to the rumors, which started the other week, the former movie queen is the personal choice of President Gloria Arroyo. It’s all been ironed out, the reports said, and only the President’s formal announcement of the appointment is lacking. Malacanang, meanwhile, is keeping mum.

I still can’t make heads or tails of the supposed “hair-raising” encounter in a beauty salon between Claudine Barretto and Angel Locsin. There are so many versions of the incident, most of them conflicting. And the problem is that neither Claudine or Angel wants to discuss it.
One version has it that Claudine gave Angel a tongue-lashing that drove Angel to tears. In another version, the two had a shouting match. A third described an angry Angel as kicking chairs.
There were witnesses to the incident, but none of them want to come out in the open.
But why hype up such a confrontation? I say let sleeping dogs lie.

Director Gilbert Perez passed away last July 16 after complication brought about by a heart attack. He was 48.
