Robinsons Bank opens 6th branch in Cebu

Ehda M. Dagooc - Philstar.com

CEBU, Philippines —  Despite the fact that more and more people have now embraced digital banking, Robinsons Bank is bent on expanding its physical branches with the opening of its 6th branch in Cebu and two more branches opening soon in key areas in Visayas and Mindanao within the year.

“Robinsons Bank believes in an omni-channel approach in serving customers— whether clients are going through a digital journey or opt to connect with our branches, they will always have the same seamless customer journey,” said Robinsons Bank president and chief executive officer (CEO) Elfren Antonio S. Sarte.

According to Sarte, the Gokongwei-owned commercial bank will continue expanding its geographic footprint across the nation.

“In VisMin, there will be at least two more Robinsons Bank branches to open by the end of the year. In this time, going digital for banks is not an option, but is a necessity, however, our physical presence through our branches still remains to be a vital part of the Bank’s strategy,” Sarte added.

The newly opened Robinsons Bank in Cebu IT Park joins other five branches located in Robinsons Galleria, Fuente Osmena (in Robinsons Fuente), Cybergate building, in Banilad and in Mandaue City.

believes that Cebu and other areas outside of NCR (national capital region) will continue to provide opportunities despite the ongoing threat of the pandemic.

“What the pandemic has made most businesses realize is that things can be run successfully at a certain scale outside of NCR.  And to some degree, it made companies rethink if this will be a better model moving forward, and to not concentrate business hubs, posing risks of shutdowns (due to quarantine status).  One major acquisition made by the Gokongwei Group during the pandemic was Rose Pharmacy, Inc, which has a very strong presence in Vismin,” noted Sarte.

Aside from its people, Sarte explained that the bank’s confidence is strongly anchored by its affiliation with the Gokongwei Group of companies, which primary vision is to help improve the lives of every Juan, this sense of purpose drives us to deliver to our customers relevant and timely banking solutions attuned to our customer’s requirements.

“In coordination with our different business units such as Robinson’s Retail, Universal Robina Corp, Cebu Pacific, etc, we believe that our synergies will be a major driver not only for the Bank, but for all the business units in the Group,” he added.

Robinsons Bank is the financial services arm of the Gokongwei Group. Sarte said that being backed up by one of the largest conglomerates in the country has provided Robinsons Bank with the trust and confidence of the investing public.

“Furthermore, we continue to leverage on the conglomerate’s business network to further expand our customer base,” he said.

At present, there are a total of 157 Robinsons Bank branches across the Philippines.
