Clarifies property is not for sale: JPark Resort seeks minority partner
CEBU, Philippines — JPark Island Resort and Waterpark is not for sale.
This was clarified by Chairman Justin Uy after talks circulated that the resort was up for sale. He, however, made clear that indeed, the company is looking for an investor to be a minority business partner.
Uy admitted that the business had been severely affected by the tourism drought due to the pandemic, but it is now slowly recovering boosted by the consistent flow of local bookings.
He joined other vocal hospitality stakeholders in Cebu in their call for airlines and authorities to allow more flights going to Cebu, particularly increasing frequency of Cebu-Manila route.
He believes that full recovery will be seen as soon as Koreans and Japanese nationals are also allowed to visit Cebu. These nationalities are two of the top visitors of JPark Mactan in pre-pandemic era.
Despite the ongoing situation on the pandemic, the resort commits to prioritize the safety of its guests and employees, thus, we have implemented a full range of safety protocols around the resort to ensure a worry-free stay for everyone.
“We have been very proactive in implementing programs to ensure all our guests will remain to have the five-star experience when staying in our resort. We are looking forward to serve guests all in the new norm,” said general manager Jonathan Nowell in an earlier interview.
In 2019, BXT Corporation, the company that operates the JPark Hotels and Resorts brand opened the 24-hectare JPark Resort Panglao.
In the last 11 years, the Group now has room portfolio of close to 3,000 rooms, Jpark Mactan has over 800 rooms, 583 rooms in Toyoko Inn, and 1,400 will be made available in its Panglao property.
