CEBU, Philippines — To mark its 26th year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) honored outstanding stakeholders in Central and Eastern Visayas in an awarding ceremony held yesterday at the Banking Hall of BSP Cebu.

Ma. Cyd Tuaño-Amador, Deputy Governor Corporate Services Sector, led the awarding ceremony, which is now on its 15th year, along with BSP Economic Statistics Deputy Director Fernando Y. Silvoza.

Tuaño-Amador expressed BSP’s gratitude to its stakeholders from Region 7 and 8, stressing that this year’s theme “One Team, One Goal: Resilient Partnership Towards Inclusive Economic Growth”, emphasizes the importance of reinforcing partnerships to achieve the goal for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

“This collective goal, which we have heard many, many times is about ensuring that all members of society are provided of opportunities to share the benefits of the growing and the vibrant economy,” she said.

She added that BSP’s partnership with its stakeholders is vital and that “only in working together as one team will we achieve this objective. “

Tuaño-Amador also said that the awards were meant to recognize partners who have provided the Central Bank with information support.

“We at the Bangko Sentral, we keep fertilizing the economy with sound macroeconomic policies and sensible treasury reforms so that we can grow strong and resilient, able to withstand shocks both external and domestic, both natural and man-made,” she added.

However, Tuaño-Amador said “policies can only be truly relevant and effective when it’s grounded on good soil. In this case it is grounded or based on good information and data. That is why your information support at the regional level is highly valued.”

Since its inception, BSP has extended the awards to include partners who have helped BSP resume its advocacy in promoting economic and financial education, microfinance, credit surety, and financial consumer progression.
