Five-star resort offers boat service for guests

CEBU, Philippines —  Newly opened five-star Dusit Thani Resort Mactan announced to provide water transport alternative for its guests.

In an interview with the resort’s general manager David Anthony Baldwin, he said that the management has tapped a catamaran vessel operator to provide the service for the resort for easy transfers of guests sans the traffic.

This move is to prepare the resort’s full-blown opening targeted by June this year, which will unveil all 272 rooms, three full-service restaurants and lobby deli bar, and 500-square meters kid’s zone, among other resort amenities.

“We are building our dock so that we may offer water transfers for arriving and departing guests. The Marina is just a short ride from the airport, where guests will board a catamaran for a lovely ride to Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu,” added Baldwin.

Owned by Robinsons Land Inc., and managed by Thailand’s Dusit International, the five-star beachfront resort is located on the northwestern tip of Mactan Island, in barangay Punta Engaño.

“Teaming up with Dusit International, a well-established international brand, is a step in the proper direction for the company,” added Arthur Gindap, senior vice president and Business Unit General Manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts.

“We are proud of our real estate development experience, and are driven to constantly introduce new and exciting brands and concepts to this quality-conscious market. As the market matures in sophistication and as competition continues to increase, introducing a global brand will further fortify our presence in Cebu,” Gindap underscored.

Aside from its strength as leisure and family destination, Dusit Thani Mactan is also positioned to capture the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibits) market as it installed six event venues that can host celebrations, meetings, or seminars. The largest of these is the 1,235 sq.m Dusit Ballroom, which can comfortably seat 600 guests for banquets or up to 1,000 guests for cocktails.

A 500 square meters Pre-Function Area can host cocktails for 400 guests, while the four smaller Salons, ranging from 95 to 100 sq.m., seat up to 60 guests for dinner or 80 guests for cocktails.

The versatile Sky Garden, which has a sweeping view of the sea, the resort’s pool, and the beach is perfect for teambuilding sessions, receptions or health and fitness-related activities during the day.

The resort, which soft-opened just a week ago, reported a high occupancy rate with its 50-room initial operation, Baldwin reported.
