4 dead in series of shootings in Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines — Four people were killed in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue in the past two days. The victims include two tricycle drivers, trisikad driver, and a security guard.

 

Allen Samad, resident of Sitio Kagudoy, Barangay Basak, was shot to the body several times Tuesday evening in SitioDatag, Barangay Maribago. Police Officer 1 Antony Robert Piencenaves said that Samad was driving his tricycle when two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him.

A promodiser was also injured after he got hit by stray bullet. Piencenaves identified the victim as LecenioTaghoy, 27, resident of SitioBuyong, Barangay Maribago.

At least 11 empty shells of .45 caliber rounds were recovered from the crime scene.

In another incident, tricycle driver Ernie Amistad, 30, resident of SitioTambis, Barangay Pajac, was also shot dead by unknown assailants near Pacific Villa. Police investigators recovered six empty shells of caliber .45 rounds at the crime scene.

Security guard Laurencio Renejane, 26, was also shot dead yesterday dawn in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Basak. The victim was driving his motorcycle on his way home to SitioMahayahay in Barangay Bankal when motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him to the chest.

None of the culprits in three shooting incidents in Lapu-Lapu City since Tuesday have been arrested.

In Mandaue City, 46-year-old trisikad driver Edwin Momson was killed by three unidentified gunmen around 6:39 a.m. yesterday along F. Mendoza Street in Barangay Cambaro.

Momson was already doing his daily grind when the assailants, on board a motorcycle, came and shot him several times. The victim died instantly while the perpetrators fled.—  FPL (FREEMAN)
