Metro Gaisano breaks ground for new store

CEBU, Philippines - Early of next year, another Metro Gaisano will soon rise in Basak-San Nicolas just along the N. Bacalso Avenue corner of F. Llamas Street.

The presence of Metro Gaisano in the area is seen to benefit residents of Barangays Basak-San Nicolas, Mambaling, Labangon, Tisa, Pardo, and even of the neighboring towns of Talisay, Minglanilla, and Naga.

"At the end of the day, the consumer wins. They have more choices and better prices," said Arthur Emmanuel, Metro Gaisano Retail Group's chief officer for retail development.

Emmanuel however promised that the Metro Gaisano store that will rise in Basak-San Nicolas would give residents in the area better choices as it will house a "good assortment of products" from around the Philippines and from other countries with international brands and products.

He said that in addition, what will set the store apart from all the other establishments in the area is the unique quality service offered by its well-trained staffs and very affordable prices that can only be had at the Metro.

The new Metro Gaisano store will be built in an 8,000 square meter area which used to house a lumber shop. On it will rise an approximately 15,000 square meter establishment distributed in three floors and to house a department store with an extensive selection of products ranging from apparels to jewelries, appliances to furniture; a supermarket with all essential consumables and hard-to-find gourmet items; a food court serving a variety of dishes to suite every palate; a pharmacy with a complete line of both over the counter and prescription medicines; and even complimentary essential locators like banks and fast food chains.

Emmanuel said that the store is set to open in the first quarter of 2013, and will be an addition to the growing chain of Metro Gaisano stores.

At present there are twelve Metro Gaisano stores all over the country, namely: Metro Colon, Metro Mandaue, Metro Ayala Center Cebu, Metro Toledo, Metro Market in Naga City, Metro Legazpi in Bicol, Metro Lucena in Quezon, Metro Maasin in Leyte, Metro Market! Market! in Taguig City, Metro Marquee Mall in Angeles, Pampanga, Metro Market in Binondo, Manila, and just recently it opened its 12th store in Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City.

Before the end of the year, Emmanuel said that around eight more stores will be built, four or five of which will be in Cebu province.

"By the end of 2012 we will have 20 plus, and many more to come," Emmanuel said, and all these to better serve its customers. — (FREEMAN)
