Hotels enjoy full occupancy

DESPITE the opening of two five star hotels in Cebu province, other hotels still had full occupancy the past two months.

Patria Aurora "Dawnie" Roa, Department of Tourism regional director said, other big hotels in the province of Cebu are having full rooms with the arrival of Japanese and Korean tourists.

This came despite the opening of five-star accommodations Marco Polo Plaza Hotel and Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa.

Roa said, arrivals of tourists in Cebu is expected to reach its peak in December 2006, when the city hosts the 12th ASEAN Summit and the 4th Asean Business and Investment Summit.

Cebu City was the top provincial destination outside Metro Manila last year followed by Aklan for people enroute to Boracay, Laguna home of the Pagsanjan Falls; Pampanga where Clark Field is located and Palawan.

A total of 403,326 international visitors arrived in 2005 making the Queen City of the South as the top provincial destination.
