Design possibilities to suit one's lifestyle

MANILA, Philippines - Offering unparalleled quality living, the Illumina Residences Manila (IRM) is another development of DMCI Homes that’s designed to address city dwellers’ various daily needs. Illumina is a high-rise condominium illuminating the progressive city of Manila, a masterfully planned structure that combines many unique conveniences. Already a pleasing landmark in Sta. Mesa, the property is situated at a secure neighborhood, mere moments away from popular commercial hubs, business centers, campuses, and medical facilities.

For prospective buyers to better appreciate the lifestyle of future Illumina residents, a model unit was created on-site, viewable daily by visitors. Pam Maningas, DMCI Senior Interior Designer, explained that the clean, uncluttered design for the 2-bedroom special unit easily gives potential unit owners a glimpse of a more relaxed lifestyle.

“With Illumina, the architecture is modern minimalist, but still contemporary,” she said. “Neutral colors, lighter shades of grays and whites are used more. They help project the illusion of space. When you say modern minimalist, it’s usually cold, and metals and whites are used. With the contemporary theme, we added wood, softer tones, and splashes of color like pastels, greens, oranges, and some brown shades.”

Maningas added that coming up with an ideal look for the model unit was a welcome challenge. The model unit design in Illumina differed greatly from other DMCI Homes projects’, so the interior was approached with a “less is more” attitude.

“We wanted a different theme. The challenge was utilizing less furniture, and things that you can already use. With other Asian designs, there are many trinkets and other thrifty décor. What you really need is in the Illumina model unit, and the included objects have been thought out. The concept is really more practical. It’s easier to execute the design.”

The required items, Maningas said, can be easily purchased at department stores.

“We put mirrors and area rugs to add a homier feel. These prevent the place from looking cold. We have soft furnishings like curtains and a few artworks or paintings. For the window treatment, we used sliding panels to let in more natural light.”

Illumina Residences Manila, which also features single-loaded hallways, also has bedrooms ideal for growing families and professionals. A third room in the model unit can serve as a den, an office, or a play room, depending on the needs of the occupants.

“We leave space for the imagination of the client for their home to be more individualized. For example, if the client wants to add color to a beige sofa by having red throw pillows, it can be done to personalize the space. The DMCI model units are suggestions. And when they visit, the actual view beats the impressive brochure pictures,” Maningas enthused.

Illumina Residences Manila units are unique in that their balconies offer majestic, 360-degree views of the Metro Manila cityscapes. At the balcony, one is privy to many breathtaking glimpses of the outside world without leaving the comfort of a clutter-free, design showcase home.
