PCSO supports YSS

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) recently reaffirmed its commitment to the mandate of raising and providing funds for health programs in the Philippines by pursuing a more reactive approach, especially with issues about the Filipino youth’s welfare – like road safety. Acknowledging that facing such an issue entails gargantuan challenges, the PCSO has decided to work hand-in-hand with those in the private sector. A most timely move is to involve itself by helping fund the 2011 Young Street Smarts (YSS) Road Safety School Tour as a Major Participating Partner. Conceived by the SOCIO-COM Foundation for Asia and organized and conducted by its main benefactor, Sunshine Television (STV), this is a series of free seminars and workshops that are held in different schools in the country with the aim of teaching students how to become safe and responsible road users. With the knowledge that young people while on the road constitute a large number of victims of accidents worldwide including the Philippines, the PCSO, under the leadership of Chairman Margarita P. Juico and the members of the Board of Directors have found the idea appealing if only to help reduce the number of accidents in the country that cause damage to properties and worse the loss of life and limb, especially among children through these free seminars and workshops on road safety. Shown confirming the partnership agreement are Jose Ferdinand M. Roxas II, General Manager of PCSO and Ray Butch Gamboa, chairman and CEO of STV.
