BAP elects new board

MANILA, Philippines - The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) has elected its 2014 board of directors and officer led by Lorenzo V. Tan. Tan is the president and chief executive officer of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) and the incumbent BAP chief executive. The BAP is the trade organization of the country’s commercial banking sector. Antonio C. Moncupa, president and chief executive officer of EastWest Banking Corp. (EastWest Bank) was likewise re-elected as first vice president. The other officers are: Enrico S. Cruz, (second vice president) managing director and chief country officer of Deutsche Bank AG; Gil A. Buenaventura, (secretary) president and chief executive officer of Development Bank of the Philippines; and Roberto L. Panlilio, (treasurer) managing director and senior country officer of JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. – Manila branch. Cesar O. Virtusio remains as BAP executive director. The rest of the board members are: Abraham T. Co (Asia United Bank); Cezar P. Consing (Bank of the Philippine Islands); Fabian S. Dee (Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co.); Reynold Y. Gerongay (Robinsons Bank Corp.); Mahendra Gursahani (Standard Chartered Bank); Jaime C. Laya (Philippine Trust Co.); Omar Byron T. Mier (Philippine National Bank); Justo A. Ortiz (Union Bank of the Philippines); Masato Tsunoda (Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd. – Manila branch); and Alberto S. Villarosa (Security Banking Corp.).
