BFAR-NFRDI holds fisheries confab

MANILA, Philippines –  The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (BFAR-NFRDI) will conduct a scientific conference on “Understanding the Present Challenges in Philippine Fisheries” on Oct. 11-12 at the F.H. Lopez Convention Hall, BSWM, Diliman, Quezon City.

BFAR-NFRDI officer-in-charge Noel Barut said that the conference aims to present recent findings on various researches on fisheries undertaken by local and international universities and research institutions.

The scientific conference is divided into three sub-themes: Food Security, Best Practices in Fisheries, and Climate Change and Biodiversity. A total of 39 research papers, three plenary and 36 sub-sessions will be presented.

The scientific conference is a kick-off activity and one of the main highlights in the annual national observance of the Fish Conservation Week, which runs from Oct. 17 to 23.
