North braces for war at Pueblo

MANILA, Philippines — Team North heads into the ICTSI Elite Junior PGT Finals knowing a second straight title will be much harder to win.

Coach Joey Anciano is keeping his game plan close to the vest, but remains confident that preparation, chemistry and resilience can carry his side when the Ryder Cup-style championship is played Aug. 18-20 at Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro.

Unlike last year’s inaugural edition at The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, where North used its familiarity with the course to score a convincing 26 1/2 - 21 1/2 win, this year’s defense will be on South turf.

“Not being familiar with Pueblo de Oro is our biggest challenge,” said Anciano. “But golf comes down to execution. To win, we have to start strong, adapt quickly to the layout, and finish strong on every single hole.”
