MANILA, Philippines — Business reporters of The Philippine STAR were recognized for their coverage of their respective beats last year at the 30th Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) Business Journalism Awards.

EJAP, the premier organization of business reporters and editors in the country, in partnership with the Ayala Group of Companies, announced the winners last Nov. 25, through a virtual ceremony held amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Iris Gonzales was named Best Reporter of the Year for Capital Markets, while Louella Desiderio won Best Reporter of the Year for Trade and Industry.

Other awardees are Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Karl Ocampo for Agriculture/Mining; Ben de Vera for Finance; Miguel Camus for Telecommunications/Transportation; BusinessMirror’s Lenie Lectura for Energy and Cai Ordinario for Macroeconomy and Best Feature Story of the Year, and BusinessWorld’s Luz Wendy Noble for Banking.

Both Philippine Daily Inquirer and BusinessMirror were named Business News Source of the Year for winning the most number of awards.  The awards were given based on the 2020 body of works.

Articles were judged based on content and style.
