New Emirates country manager for Philippines named

MANILA, Philippines — Dubai-based Emirates has appointed a new country manager for the Philippines as part of the airline’s management rotations to support its commercial strategies.

Emirates said it has named Jaber Mohamed as the new country manager for the Philippines, who will be tasked with the responsibility of leading the airline’s operations, driving growth and strengthening its footprint in the country.

Jaber was previously Emirates’ area manager for Taiwan since 2016, where he was in charge of the airline’s operations, commercial strategies and enhancing relations with key stakeholders to optimize effectiveness for the Taipei-Dubai route.

He will replace Satish Sethi, who will be posted in Japan as the airline’s new country manager there.

Emirates said Jaber has 11 years of experience under his belt, joining the company in 2010 where he held several positions and across multiple markets. He has also served as area manager for Cyprus, Greece and Uganda.

“The Philippines continues to be an important market for Emirates, offering its customers convenience, comfort, innovative products and personalized services from three gateways including Manila, Clark and Cebu,” the airline said.

“Most of all, its safety and health measures, introduced during the pandemic, have been an important factor for customers when considering travel,” it said.

In November last year, Emirates announced the launch of an integrated biometric path at the Dubai International Airport that provides a contactless airport experience for passengers traveling from and through Dubai to entice more Filipinos to travel to Dubai.

Emirates last year also became the first airline globally to offer its passengers free cover for COVID-19 medical expenses and quarantine costs as part of efforts to boost travel confidence amid the pandemic.
