DOT seeks more foreign service officers

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) is looking to bolster its talent pool for its foreign offices as it calls on for applicants for the 2020 Foreign Tourism Service Examinations (FTSE).

In a statement, the DOT said interested candidates may apply for tourism attaché or foreign tourism officer posts, depending on their qualifications.

Tourism attaché applicants should have a Master’s degree or a Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and a Career Service Professional or Second Level Eligibility.

“The applicant must also have at least four years of supervisory or management experience and at least 40 hours of supervisory or management learning and development intervention,” the DOT said.

A tourism attaché is expected to supervise the overall operations and activities of the DOT foreign office and establish a network with Filipino and foreign tourist authorities, among others.

Foreign tourism officer applicants, on the other hand, should have a relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting or finance) and a Career Service Professional or Second Level Eligibility.

The DOT added that the applicant must also have at least two years of relevant experience and at least eight hours of relevant training.
