MANILA, Philippines — Prime Orion Philippines Inc. (POPI), the operator of the Tutuban shopping district which is now majority owned by Ayala Land Inc., is strengthening its real estate logistics and industrial sector business.

In a press briefing yesterday after the company’s annual stockholders meeting, POPI president Maria Rowena Tomeldan said the company would launch two more industrial estates in the first half of next year— one in Cagayan de Oro and the other in Central Luzon.

This is on top of the two existing industrial estates which are now under POPI, the 460-hectare Laguna Technopark in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and the 135-hectare Cavite Technopark in Naic.

Tomeldan said the company would retain the 20-hectare Tutuban shopping district which has now been redeveloped for a better shopping experience.

POPI has expanded its key business interests and streamlined processes to improve sustainability and overall profitability.

“With the Philippines continuously attracting more foreign and local investments in the manufacturing sector…we plan to expand our parks in the Calabarzon region, and to develop a strong presence in the Central Luzon and VisMin regions as well,” Tomeldan said.
