Electricity rates drop again in June

MANILA, Philippines – Meralco announced today that the residential rate for a typical 200-kilowatthour (kWh) household went down this June by around P0.13 per kWh, thereby bringing it down to P8.32 per kWh, the lowest in six years since January 2010.

This month’s decrease translates to a reduction of around P25 in electricity bills. The reduction was due to the downward movement in the generation charge, which more than offset a higher transmission charge. 

To help prepare for the rainy season, Meralco also offers free text alert service for customers to stay updated on power interruptions and service maintenance schedules.
