ICTSI expands Manila port capacity

MANILA, Philippines – International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has expanded the capacity of the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) with the opening of Yard 7.

In a statement, ICTSI said Yard 7 forms part of MICT’s P5 billion expansion project.

The opening of Yard 7 provides additional capacity of 2.75 million twenty-foot equivalent units to the MICT.

“This not only addresses the current demand of shipping line clients and the port community for terminal services but also of anticipated growth,” ICTSI said.

Ahead of the completion of the expansion, ICTSI has rolled out its Terminal Appointment Booking System or online container booking system for MICT customers.

ICTSI likewise launched a mobile app that would allow MICT’s customers to track their containers.

Through the app available both on IOS and Android devices, port users can check the status of their import and export shipment, truck entry and exit times, as well as vessel arrival and departure schedules.

The app also has email support which enables users to get real-time service from MICT’s customer care department.

ICTSI was awarded the concession to operate the MICT  in 1988.

Apart from the MICT, ICTSI is involved in other terminal concessions and port development projects in countries such as Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, China, US, Ecuador, Brazil, Poland, Georgia, Madagascar, Croatia, Pakistan, India, Mexico, Honduras, Iraq, Argentina, Colombia, Congo, Australia and Nigeria.

As of the end of September, the port operator’s net income reached $143.7 million, slightly higher than the $142.3 million recorded in the same period last year.
