Globe expects stronger revenues from postpaid, broadband subscribers

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. expects its mobile postpaid segment and its broadband business to provide solid contributions to the company’s overall revenues.

Globe senior vice president for consumer mobile marketing Issa Cabreira said the postpaid business will likely end the year on a high note with sustained growth in revenues and customer base, following the company’s innovative offers for the newest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models.

“With our long-standing partnership with Apple, we are poised to provide a complete digital experience to consumers: best-in-class postpaid plans, exclusive privileges and the biggest rewards, and an extensive suite of value-added services and apps,” Cabreira said.

She pointed out that the company’s Reset Program also allows existing postpaid customers to renew or extend their existing account to avail of the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus even if a subscriber’s 24-month contract is still not up for renewal to get a new device.

She added that another exclusive offer is the easy apps purchase from the US iTunes Store using GCash American Express Virtual Card, enabling customers to download and purchase apps, media and games and charge it to their postpaid bill or prepaid load without using a credit card.

Globe’s mobile postpaid segment booked an 11 percent growth in revenues to P22 billion in the first nine months of the year from P20 billion in the same period last year while mobile revenues, including prepaid subscribers, rose six percent to P57.6 billion.

The number of the company’s postpaid subscribers went up nine percent to 2.2 million from two million.

Likewise, the telecom provider believes that its broadband business would steadily chalk up bigger market share as revenues jumped 16 percent to P9 billion in the first nine months of the year from P7.8 billion in the same period last year.

Globe’s broadband customer base surged 36 percent to 2.5 million in end-September from 1.9 million in end-September last year. Globe’s wireless broadband services include Tattoo Mobile Broadband and Tattoo Home.
