MANILA, Philippines — Every pageant contestant aspires to earn the right to represent her country on the international stage.

Jayvee Lyn Lorejo, a beauty from the Davao Region, has been named Miss Global Philippines in a recent coronation gala mounted by ALV Pageant Circle and its president, queenmaker Arnold Vegafria.

Jayvee Lyn will compete at this year’s Miss Global in Bangkok, Thailand.

“Representing our country is something I did not expect,” said she during the event’s Q&A segment. “Having this opportunity and responsibility… is really a privilege and an honor. I’m very grateful to Tito Arnold (Vegafria) and the ALV Pageant Circle for giving me this opportunity.”

The Philippine delegate assured everyone that “I will really try my best to work hard for this journey because I know pageantry is kinda like an Olympic game for the Filipinos. So, I don’t wanna, you know, disappoint you guys because a true Filipina doesn’t back down (from) challenges. You know we are very strong, we are very persevering once we’re given the challenge.”

According to her, she will showcase what her grandmother has taught her: being true to herself.

Since Lady Luck plays a role in winning a title, too, Jayvee Lyn shared her two cents on the word “destiny” and the phrase “meant to be.”

“I didn’t expect I would be crowned as Miss Global Philippines, but one thing that pageantry taught me is to always be prepared because opportunities can come unexpectedly. So, here I am… preparing to be the best representation of the Philippines at Miss Global.”

As for the whys she should be the next beauty to wear the Miss Global crown, she had this to say: “(First) I’m very real to myself. You know I don’t pretend to be someone (else), and I’m showing the authentic side of myself, and second, I’m a person who loves to travel… I love to travel around the world… it’s something that I really love, and that is to travel, not just internationally, guys, but I also love to travel domestically ‘coz I’m also a flight attendant. So, I love to travel, and it makes me happy.”

“And hopefully, as a Miss Global, I would encourage people to travel (and) to explore the world the best that they can,” added she.

She also has the perseverance and the motivation to attain goals, as one could gather by following her train of thought.

Part of her pageant preparations are working on her communication skills, strengthening her advocacy, The Pangga Project, and learning more about global issues.

Available online information says the project supports the elderly community and aims to provide its basic needs.

Aside from Jayvee Lyn, the other beauty queens who will represent the country are Erika Davis as Miss Glamour Look International Philippines; Michelle Arceo, Miss Tourism International Philippines; Gabrielle Galapia, Miss Asia-Pacific International Philippines; Olivia Grace Reilly, Face of Beauty International Philippines; Sophia Bianca Santos, Miss Elite World Philippines; and Margarette Briton, Miss Interglobal Philippines.
