CEBU, Philippines - Ang Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) mipalapad sa ilang reforestation program pinaagi sa pagpananom og 1,100 ka fruit ug hardwood seedlings sa Luyang Watershed kaniadtong Mayo 20. Ang Luyang Watershed sa lungsod sa Carmen mao ang ikaunom nga benepisyaryo sa ilang corporate social responsibility program.
Ang MCWD adunay existing reforestation programs sa Kotkot, Combado, Lusaran, Mananga ug Buhisan watersheds. Ang operasyon sa MCWD nagsalig kini sa mga sapa ug springs niining mga lugara.
Ang pagpananom og kahoy sa Luyang watershed gipanguluhan gyud ni MCWD acting general manager Noel Dalena, mga kawani sa MCWD ug mga volunteers nga kawani sa munisipyo sa Carmen.
“It is our duty to take care of our watersheds and to lead all efforts to reforest them for the sake of our future generations,” matud ni Dalena. Ang MCWD nakig- partner usab sa Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas -Cebu Chapter.
Kini aron sa pagsibya sa kahanginan kabahin sa tree growing aron sa pag-awhag sa mga volunteers nga moapil sa maong programa. Si Rev. Fr. Roberto Ebisa, ang chairman sa KBP-Cebu Chapter, nidayeg sa MCWD sa iyang “act of servitude” alang sa katawhan sa Sugbo.
“In an effort to minimize the erosion in the affected areas of the municipality of Carmen, I am hopeful that this tree planting will usher essential impact for the betterment of our community,” matud pa ni Ebisa.
Daghan pa nga mga dapit dinhi sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo, ilabi na kadtong nahimutang sa upland areas ang wala pa kaserbisyohi og tubig sa MCWD. (BANAT NEWS)
