Davide, Magpale in Cordova today to join Oplan Tokhang

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale will be in Cordova town today to join the police’s Oplan Tokhang.

The top two Capitol officials were invited by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) to join them in their operation in asking those who are involved in drugs to surrender.

Davide said this is the way the Cebu provincial government shows its support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs by physically helping out the Philippine National Police (PNP) in their Oplan Tokhang.

“I want to experience firsthand pud how it feels to be convincing people to stop using drugs kon user ba atong adtoon or pusher ba.  Mas maayo pud maka-gain ta og experience and this is our way of giving support to our PNP,” Davide said.

The operation will start with a briefing to the governor and vice governor at the municipal hall of Cordova at 8 a.m.

After the briefing, Davide and Magpale together with the CPPO officials, headed by Sr. Supt. Eric Noble, will then proceed with the Tokhang.

Davide said they might visit at least 15 to 20 houses today, adding it was the CPPO who identified the houses the top two officials will visit.

Noble earlier said that aside from asking those who are involved into drugs to surrender, they also want to expand their operation to those who are involved on cyber-pornography.

This is the second time the PNP had invited the Capitol officials to join in their operation, hoping that pushers and users will be convinced to surrender, considering that no less than the top officials are the ones convincing them.

The first plan to have the Tokhang operation with the governor did not push through earlier this year after Duterte stopped the operation of the PNP against illegal drugs, and instead directed the police hierarchy to clean their ranks first. (FREEMAN)
