Blazers, Bullpups roll into Martin Cup semis
MANILA, Philippines — St. Benilde, National U and San Beda-Rizal turned back their rivals to roll into the semifinal round in their respective divisions in the 15th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at San Beda-Manila gym in Mendiola.
The Blazers drew 21 points from Justin Gutang to repel the NU Bulldogs, 99-95, in seniors division.
The NU Bullpups routed the San Beda-Manila B Red Kittens, 105-59, Thirdy Esmena and Gerry Abadiano combined for 32 points.

The Red Cubs, on the other hand, crushed the Letran Squires, 67-47, with Basti Valencia and Joshua Lazaro leading the charge with nine points apiece.
Meanwhile, Adamson and San Beda clash at 8 a.m. while St. Benilde and Ateneo tangle at 9:30 a.m. in the semis of the seniors division on Sunday.
Gutang, a Fil-Am find from San Francisco, California, combined with UP transferee Darwish Bederi and Joshua Barnes in St. Benilde’s third quarter attack that saw them shatter a 32-all count for a 50-41 lead.
Anfernee Estacio, meanwhile, poured in eight of 14 points in the second period as the Red Cubs broke game wide open, 40-19, against the Squires.
