MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. is hard-pressed to deliver an exciting performance against UFC star Conor McGregor on August 26, contrary to most of his fights.

Speaking recently to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Mayweather said feels the need to make up to the fans after his lackluster fight with Manny Pacquiao two years ago.

The undefeated American has been successful in the ring thanks largely to his defensive style. Against McGregor though, Mayweather promised that things will be different.

“This can’t be a defensive fight,” Mayweather told Smith. “I’ve gotta go to him. I have to go to him. I’ve gotta do what I’ve gotta do.”

Mayweather will engage McGregor in a 12-round boxing match in Las Vegas, and he said fans will get their money’s worth this time.

“Because I owe the public for the Pacquiao fight, since they wasn’t pleased with the Pacquiao fight. They’re gonna be pleased with this fight here,” he added.

Many boxing observers and fans panned Mayweather’s showdown with Pacquiao in May 2015, which failed up to the hype but still ended up as the richest bout in boxing history.
