MANILA, Philippines – Freddie Roach respects Jeff Horn’s punching power, that’s why he assured that Manny Pacquiao will be extra careful when they collide this July.
Speaking recently to Steve Kim of boxingscene.com, Roach admitted seeing Horn in action, saying the 29-year-old Australian can pack a punch
"Manny is motivated for everybody, he doesn't take anyone lightly and Horn's won his last few fights by knockout and he's supposed to be getting better and a big puncher But I did see one tape on him so far and he's a little bit wild but he does have a little bit of power," Pacquiao’s longtime trainer explained.
Indeed, Horn has scored stoppages in his last three fights, forcing Randal Bailey to quit on his stool, and posting TKO wins over Rico Mueller and Ali Funeka all in a busy 2016.
Of Horn’s 16 wins—the Australian is undefeated, with one draw—11 are bouts that have not gone the distance.
But Pacquiao is a completely different animal, and Roach says Horn will have his hands full when he challenges the Filipino icon at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on July 2.
"But I think he's going to have a tough time with Pacquiao," the multi-awarded trainer continued.
Roach said that even at 38 years old, Pacquiao is still a fast fighter.
“And Manny still does have his speed. He's not near done, yet,” added Roach.
