CEBU, Philippines - The Omega Pro Sports International is taking its boxing on the road.

Due to the request to bring top-level boxing to Masbate, OPSI is staging “Rumble sa Masbate” in Cawayan, Masbate on March 8 in partnership with Cawayan Mayor Ramon Abinuman. This fuses the boxing events that were intended for Talamban on February 18 and Masbate.

Fighting in the main event is Jhaleel Payao (14-1, 8KOs) of the Omega Boxing Gym, who will fight for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight championship against Jason Tinampay (8-3-1, 7KOs) of Bohol.

In the supporting main event, Jimboy Haya (9-3-2, 6 KOs) of the Omega Boxing Gym goes up against the undefeated knock-out artist Ken Jordan (4-0-1, 4 KOs) of General Santos. There will be a total of 62 rounds of fights including boxers from Masbate.

On the request to bring boxing entertainment to Cawayan, OPSI President Pio Paulo Castillo said, “There was a clamor to bring top-notch boxing to Masbate and we decided to stage the first Rumble event in Cawayan in partnership with Mayor Abinuman. We are taking the boxing roadshow to Cawayan, complete with the entire boxing set-up for which OPSI is known.”

Cawayan has staged several boxing events in the past, usually in connection with its town fiesta, but is deserving to host a boxing event that levels up. Boxers from the Omega Boxing Gym have fought in these past events but as guest boxers. OPSI intends to bring its standard boxing set-up to Cawayan to give the Masbate boxing fans a treat.

OPSI is also gearing up for “Who’s Next? 4 which will take place on March 18 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Jhack Tepora and Christian Araneta will highlight the fight card that will include two WBO Oriental championship fights. (FREEMAN)
