Red Cubs, Squires gun for second wins

MANILA, Philippines – Seven-time champion San Beda and Lyceum shoot for a second straight win as they clash today in the 92nd NCAA juniors basketball tournament at The San Juan Arena.

The Cubs overpowered the Letran Squires, 107-74, last Monday and  are fancied  over the Junior Pirates in their 10:45 a.m. clash.

Joshua Tagala fired 19 points and spiked his effort with six rebounds and a season-high seven steals while Evan Nelle had 17 points, eight assists and six steals to power SBC past Letran.

San Beda coach JB Sison, however, knows they’ll have a tougher time considering LPU finished tied for fourth last season before losing to CSB-La Salle Greenhills in a playoff for the fourth and last slot in the stepladder semis.
