WV has the most number of 100-year-olds in Philippines
SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, ANTIQUE, Philippines — Western Visayas has the highest number of centenarians throughout the country with 360, according to Regional Director Rebecca Geamala of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 6 in a media interview yesterday.
Geamala said Region 6 topped the National Capital Region's 155 centenarians and Eastern Visayas, which has the least number of senior citizens reaching 100 years old with 58.
She also said that, after they distributed the P100,000 cash grants and certificates to the 22 out of 27 centenarians in Antique yesterday, her team would proceed to Negros Occidental today for a similar purpose.
The DSWD had already distributed the cash gifts to the centenarians in five provinces in Region 6 yesterday, with Iloilo having the most number at 135, said Geamala.
She then reminded the family members of the centenarians to take good care of their elderly and use the money to buy for their needs. (FREEMAN)
