Gesta kayang maging world champion--Roach

Russell Cadayona - Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Katulad ni Manny Pacquiao, kumpiyansa rin si chief trainer Freddie Roach na magiging isang world boxing champion si Filipino boxer Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta.

Nakatakdang hamunin ni Gesta si Jorge Linares ng Venezuela para sa suot nitong World Boxing Association lightweight title sa Enero 27 sa The Forum sa Inglewood, California.

“I feel we can win this fight,” wika ng multi-awarded trainer sa tsansa ni Gesta na mahubaran ng korona si Linares. “This is a good opportunity for us, and we have to take advantage of it as much as we can.”

“We're going over a lot of strategy,” sabi ni Roach sa ginagawa nilang preparasyon ni Gesta. “We started sparring, and it went well.”

“We still have a lot of time to work a little more. He's looking good so far,” dagdag pa ng Hall of Fame trainer,”dagdag pa ni Roach.

“Although he has improved, I know him well,” ani Gesta sa naunang panayam.

Hangad ni Gesta na maging ikatlong Pinoy na world boxing champion matapos sina International Boxing Federation flyweight king Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes at IBF super flyweight titlist Jerwin Ancajas.
