2 gold hatid ng jiu-jitsu

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan – Nagsubi ng tig-isang gold medals ang mga jiu-jitsu fighters na sina Margarita Ochoa at Annie Ramirez para sa Pinas kagabi sa 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games na ginaganap sa Ashgabat Olympic Complex dito.

Nakuha ni Ochoa ang unang gold ng Phl Team sa 62-nation sportsfest na ito matapos ang 5-0 panalo kay Vietnamese Le Thu Trang Du sa women’s Ne-waza -45kg finals.

“I trained everyday coming in, except on Sundays. But the most important part of my preparation was fixing my mindset,’’ sabi ni Ochoa, three-time world jiu-jitsu champion.

Sinundan ito ng panalo ni Ramirez kay Jenna Kaila Napolis, 9-0 sa all-Filipino finale ng women’s Ne-waza -55kg category.

“I prepared the entire year for this and it paid off,’’ said the 26-year-old Ramirez, the reigning continental and Asian Beach Games champion.

Kinapos naman sa gintong medalya si  Marc Alexander Lim matapos ang 2-0 pagkatalo kay Talib Saleh Mohamed Sale Alkirbi ng United Arab Emirates

Ang silver ni Lim ang ikalawang medalya ng Team Philippines sa kompetisyong ito matapos ang bronze ni Alvin Lobriguito sa freestyle traditional wrestling.

Pasok naman sa semifinals si Filipino American Eric Shauwn Cray matapos manguna sa preliminary round ng 60meter run. Hindi na lumahok si Cray sa 60m hurdles upang maituon ang kanyang atensiyon sa 60m.
