Cop commits suicide

ILOILO CITY  , Philippines  —  A police officer reportedly committed suicide in a jail facility in Estancia, Iloilo yesterday morning.

Police Officer 1 James Aguimod, 40, was found in the bathroom for female inmates of the Estancia police custodial facility.

An electrical cord was found around Aguimod’s neck, according to Chief Inspector Jonah Galicha, town police chief.

The other end of the cord was tied to the iron grills of the window.

“We found no foul play in PO1 Aguimod’s death,” Galicha said.

An inmate said he saw Aguimod entering the female cell between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. He said he did not see the policeman come out.

Personnel of the municipal police have been using the female cell’s toilet for sometime as theirs is under repair.

Police Officer 2 Ian Wynn Jover said he went to the bathroom at around 8:45 a.m. and found Aguimod.
