DOLE to audit enforcement of labor compliance system

Sheila Crisostomo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — All regional and field offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be inspected and audited to determine whether they are enforcing the labor compliance system.

The DOLE created the Regional Inspection Audit Team to ensure excellence, integrity and accountability in all of the agency’s programs and activities, Secretary Silvestre Bello III said over the weekend.

“We must see to it that the enforcers of the law are ethical and mindful of their responsibilities,” Bello said.

The inspection and audit will be random and unannounced and not based on any complaint filed against a DOLE official or employee.

The auditing team is required to submit a report within 30 days from the completion of the inspection, Bello said.

Those who will be found violating the provisions of the Code of Conduct for DOLE officials and employees will face administrative charges.
