LPA to bring rains over eastern part of Philippines

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The trough or extension of a low-pressure area will continue to bring rains over the eastern section of the country in the next few days, the state weather bureau said yesterday.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Palawan, parts of the Visayas and the Zamboanga peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions.

Samuel Duran, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the weather system is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone.

As of 3 a.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was located 930 kilometers east of Alabat, Quezon.

Except for isolated thunderstorms, Duran said Metro Manila would continue to experience good weather until Thursday.

Duran said there is a high probability of rains over Metro Cebu in the next three days. The temperature in the area will be between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius.

Metro Davao will also experience rains and isolated thunderstorms. The forecast temperature is from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
