Drug war: Village chief, 3 others gunned down

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay chairman and three other suspected drug pushers were slain in separate incidents in Luzon on Wednesday.

Orlando Rolda, chairman of Barangay Paulog in Ligao, Albay, engaged policemen in a shootout in Barangay Paulog, said Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

Calubaquib said Rolda was Albay’s most wanted drug suspect.

Junaim Darimbang, 29, alias Jimboy, a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Cabaroan, San Fernando, La Union, drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay San Francisco, said Superintendent Dennis Rodriguez, city police chief.

Felix Gabay, 46, a resident of Camiling, Tarlac, resisted arrest and fired at anti-drug operatives in Barangay Tagaran, Cauayan City.

Sachets of shabu, guns and marked money were recovered from the fatalities, police said.

In Isabela, motorcycle-riding men shot Vincent Guzman, 34, in Barangay Guinatan, Ilagan City.  Police said a local court had dismissed the charges filed against Guzman for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
