7 slain in shootings

MANILA, Philippines -  Another drug suspect and six other persons were shot dead in separate incidents in Luzon on Wednesday.

Antonio Estrella, alias Tol, reportedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Bangkal, Malolos, Bulacan.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said Estrella was also a suspect in recent robbery and carjacking incidents in Malolos.

Tricycle driver Teofilo Mondragon, alias Ploks, was driving his tricycle when he was shot in Barangay Nabongsoran, Aroroy, Masbate.

Santos Angeles, Arnold Ramos and Teresita Ocampo were in Barangay San Francisco, General Trias, Cavite; Barangay Patimbao, Sta. Cruz, Laguna and Maly, San Mateo, Rizal, respectively, when they were fired at.

A man who has yet to be identified was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Barangay San Jose, Rodriquez, Rizal.

In Batangas, the body of Raymond Barojo was dumped in Barangay Gonzales, Tanauan City.

Police have yet to determine if the killings were also drug-related.

Village chief nabbed for drugs

Meanwhile, Arceo Platero, chairman of Barangay Pantalan Bago in Orani, Bataan, was among the “high-value” drug pushers arrested as the government continued its war against illegal drugs also on Wednesday.

Police operatives raided Platero’s house based on a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 3 Judge Marion Jaquelino Poblete.

Buhari Basir, an aide of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao assemblyman Sidik Amiril, was collared after a raid on his house in Cotabato City yielded sachets of shabu and an unlicensed Glock pistol, police said.

Nelson Gonzales, 57, an aide of Gonzaga, Cagayan Mayor Marilyn Pencostes, was nabbed at a checkpoint in Barangay Gonzaga after a sachet of shabu was reportedly recovered from his motorcycle.

At least 1.5 grams of shabu with an estimated street value were allegedly recovered from Ramil Pardillo, alias Amec, who was also accused of attempted rape, in Barangay Bucac, Bayugan, Agusan del Sur.

Nine other drug suspects were rounded up in Bulacan, Bataan and Pampanga; three in San Nicolas and Laoag, Ilocos Norte; two in Cabarroguis, Quirino and one each in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur and Rosario, La Union. – Raymund Catindig, John Unson, Jun Elias, Ben Serrano, Ric Sapnu, Francis Elevado, Raffy Viray, Ed Amoroso
