2 LPAs continue to bring rains in Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines – Two low pressure areas (LPAs) will bring occasional to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao on Friday and onwards.
State weather bureau PAGASA said that the two LPAs are embedded along the intertropical convergence zone.
At 10 a.m., the LPA over the West Philippine Sea was located at 435 kilometers (km) west of Iba, Zambales.
Another LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was estimated at 1,620 km east of Mindanao.
The second LPA is forecast to develop into a tropical depression and will enter PAR within the next 24 hours.
It will be locally named "Ambo" once it intensifies into a tropical cyclone, the first to affect the country this year.
