2 dead, 18 hurt as jeepney hits wall

MANILA, Philippines - Two people died while 18 others were injured when the passenger jeepney they were riding lost its brakes and crashed into a wall in Antipolo City yesterday.

Miguel Potol and an unidentified woman suffered multiple injuries and died while being brought to the Antipolo District Hospital.

The other victims were rushed to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

The jeepney, plying the Cogeo-Cubao route, was going down the Marcos Highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and decided to just ram it into a cement wall.

Witnesses said the jeepney was full of passengers and speeding.
