CINEMALAYA 2014: Buboy Villar matures in 'Children's Show'

MANILA, Philippines- Robert "Buboy" Villar, the child contestant of the talent search show "Little Big Star," has matured into a serious actor.

From a young singer to Darna's little brother, Ding, Villar now stars in Cinemalaya 10 entry "Children's Show" directed by Roderick dela Cruz.

This suspense-drama film is a real-life story of children from 10 to 15 years old exploited by a syndicate for an underground wrestling match.

Doing similarly themed films is not new with Direk Roderick. He had worked as a documentary producer and director for GMA News and Public Affairs and the he is man behind some of the award-winning documentaries “Yaman sa Basura” and “Pinays for Export- A Sex Trafficking Trail in Southeast Asia.”

He was also part of Cinemalaya last year with his entry “Nuwebe” that starred Barbara Miguel, where the actress won her first acting award at the Harlem International Film Festival.

“Children's Show” also stars Allen Dizon, Gloria Sevilla, Suzette Ranillo, Nathan Lopez, Jacob Clayton, Divine Grace Aucina and Miggs Cuaderno.

The Cinemalaya Film Festival will run from August 1 to 10.
