Pa accused of raping own daughter in Cordova

CEBU, Philippines - A three-year-old female child was allegedly raped many times by her widowed father inside their house in Sitio Ubos, Barangay Poblacion in Cordova town, Cebu.

Police Inspector Alexander Nuñez, chief of Cordova Police Station, confirmed that the child was indeed "touched" based on the investigation made by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Women's and Children's Protection Desk last Thursday.

Suspect Roderick Carpo, 41, who works as a truck boy, was arrested by authorities around 1 a.m. yesterday. He is set to face charges of incestuous rape, police said.

Police said the child is the youngest among 11 siblings.

The child, being just three years old, could not yet talk properly, according to the police during their interview. But she would point to her private part when she was asked who had touched her.

It was learned that she was molested more than once by his father.

Neighbors would hear the child cry in the wee hours of dawn which is believed to be the time that her father would sexually abuse her.

As of now, the child is under the custody of her aunt while also being subjected to DSWD's intervention for further tests.

The police are also verifying reports that the victim's older brother and his friend have also sexually molested the child. — Christell Fatima M. Tudtud (FREEMAN)
